BAR CLACSON
Built out inside a 100-year-old building, Bar Clacson was completed in conjunction with our other project, Slipper Clutch, but very much has its own identity which is visible from the famed 3rd Street in DTLA. We worked with the client on this project aiming for an overall old European, ex-pat feeling, with a slight French twist. This allowed for a lot of creative freedom, as well as a challenge, working to incorporate the different styles requested by the client. This bar marries the ease of your favorite local bar, and the quaint charm of a local shopfront. The space is filled with disarming vintage decor, dark chunky wood forms on the back bar and even a Pétanque court! The interior concrete posts were left with the original finish, including deteriorating paint, allowing for a more vintage feel; keeping the ultimate goal of making this bar feel as if it had existed for a hundred years. On top of all of this, the charcuterie area in the front allows customers to enjoy the bar and a coffee any time of day. Customers can enjoy the convenience of having a space to pop in on their way to work for coffee and swinging back in for a drink at happy hour!
